BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections

The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, often referred to by its product name BOTOX® Cosmetic, is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet near the eyes. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Results from the injections generally last about three months.

Patients can receive repeat injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic when the effect from the previous injection disappears. There is even some thought that repeat injections may have a cumulative effect on the muscle causing the wrinkles.

Many younger women are using these injections as a means of preventing wrinkles in these common areas later in life. BOTOX® Cosmetic can also be used in conjunction with fillers such as Juvederm® to provide an even better result. Complications from these injections are few and if they do occur are generally temporary.
